1. What is Language?

Ans- Meaning of Language:-

                      The word 'Language' Is derived from the Latin word '' or 'Lingue'. Which means produced with the tangue.

    Definition of Language:-

               Language is a System of sounds, words, Symbols or signs used by human beings to express their thoughts, feelings,ideas and experiences.It is the main medium of communication through which people interact with one another and share knowledge in society. Language helps in Learning, teaching,thinking and the development of culture and social relationships.

2. What is L1 ?

Ans:- Generally, the mother tangue or the regional language is defined as L1 or first Language.

3. What is L2?

Ans:-The language which is immediately acquired after L1 is called second Language or L2.

4.What is L3?

Ans:-The language which is not a native language in a country is called L3 or foreign Language.

5.What is Regional Language?

Ans:- The first Language (L1) is the Learner's Mother Tangue or regional Language.

6. Write the difference between L1 and L2 ?

Ans:-  L1-

1/ Generally mother tangue is defined as first Language or L1

2/ L1 is acquired unconsciously.

3/ L1 is acquired through natural process.

4/ Acquisition of L1 is simple process

             L2:--

1/ The language which is acquired after L1 is called second language or L2.

3/ L2 is Learned through artificial process.

Ans:--The English language, which is one of the most important language of communication in our present day Indian society, was first introduced in India by the British.

            The introduction of English language in India can be divided into three phases as follows--

1) First phase-----Initiation by the Missionary.

2) Second phase-----Local demand.

3) Third phase--- The government policy.

(1) First phase:- Initiation by the Missionary ---

                        When the Christian Missionary came to India in around 1614 took on active part in introducing the English Language in India.Their main reason behind this act was to propagate the Christian religion among the common masses of India.

(2) Second phase--Local demand:--   The second phase was opined by some of the scholars the English Language come into a wide spread use in India because many Indians wanted to learn the English Language. According to Raja Rammohan Roy and Rajnath Hari Navalkar, through the English Language of the local people of India would be able to gain knowledge of the scientific development in the west. There for Raja Rammohan Roy had written a letter to lord Amherst in the year 1823 in which he had requested lord Amherst to oppoint qualified British persons to educate the native Indian people in various scientific subjects.

(3) Third phase--- The government policy:--

                              In 1765, the authority of East India company was established in India and the company had started to use English Language as the medium of instruction and administration. The knowledge of english language become necessary for the Indian people to gain employment.

                                 In this way, the english language become a common medium of communication among the general people of India.

Ans:--English is a very important language now a days, because it is the only language that links the whole world together. English is an universal language that connects people and has a huge impact on education. English can be used as a Language in any part of the world as it is a lingua franca.people speaking english right not have the same accent as others,but the language at least will be understandable.

                 The wide spread use of english clearly has changed everything its like globalisation.British colonization has spread english through out the globe,making it one of the most influential language of the world. Over 80% of the information on computer is stored in english and more than half the world technical and scientific papers are published in english as well.

                 English a west Germanic language that was first spoken in early mediaeval. The British Empire and later the United States, Modern English has been spreading Around the world.

Ans:--ENGLISH has become a global language because it is widely used across the world for communication, education, business,science, technology and diplomacy.one of the main reasons for its global spread was British colonial rule, Which introduced English to many parts of Asia,Africa and the Americas.Later the economic and political influence of the United States further strenghened the position of english worlwide.

            Today English acts as a common link language between people of different countries and cultures.it is the official or second language in many nations and is taught as a compulsory subject in schools across the globe. Most international organizations,Such  as the United nations,world Bank and World Health organization use English for official communication.

              In the fields of science and technology most research papers,journals and technical materials are published in english the internet,social media and global entertainment industries also largely function in english,making it essential for accessing global knowledge and opportunities.

               In education and employment, proficiency in english increases career prospects and global mobility. Although many languages are rich and important English plays a unique role as a bridge language. Thus,english continues to serve as a powerful tool for global communication and international understanding.
